Nurse Practitioner (NP) – First Responder Wellness
Columbus, OH Overview:
Our privately owned outpatient clinic in Columbus is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to perform comprehensive wellness physicals designed for First Responders. This short-term 1099 assignment offers a manageable patient volume and a predictable daytime schedule.
Position Offers:- Schedule:
September 13–14, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM - Competitive 1099 compensation: $70.00–75.00 per hour (DOE)
- Manageable patient volume, 12–16 patients per day
- Full malpractice coverage provided

- Perform comprehensive First Responder physical examinations, including fitness-for-duty, pre-employment, annual, and return-to-work evaluations
- Conduct advanced health assessments, including history taking, physical exams, and risk stratification tailored to First Responder demands
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including cardiac stress testing, ECGs, pulmonary function tests, and vision/hearing screening
- Document all encounters accurately in the EHR, ensuring compliance with clinical and legal standards
- Provide evidence-based patient education on fitness, injury prevention, and occupational health risks
- Collaborate with physicians, occupational health specialists, and agency leadership to support readiness and return-to-duty decisions
- Identify occupational health and safety concerns and recommend follow-up, work restrictions, or specialist referrals as needed
- Active, current Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
- Direct, hands‑on experience performing physical examinations required
- Experience with cardiac stress testing preferred
- DOT certification a plus, but not required
