Career Opportunity:
Nursing Director with Flying Horse Farms in Mount Gilead, Ohio

What if your nursing leadership experience could help children with serious illnesses spend a week focusing on being kids instead of patients? If you've built a career caring for children and leading teams and are looking for an opportunity where your leadership directly impacts campers and families, we'd love to talk with you.

Flying Horse Farms offers a unique nursing leadership opportunity that extends beyond a traditional healthcare setting. It's a place where children with serious illnesses can swim, fish, climb ropes courses, make friends, and simply enjoy being kids, all while receiving exceptional medical support from a dedicated clinical team.

We're seeking a Nursing Director who is excited to lead nursing operations while helping create life-changing experiences for campers and their families. This role combines pediatric nursing expertise, leadership, operations, and relationship-building in a way that few healthcare positions can.
As a member of the Camp Operations Team, you'll work collaboratively across the organization to support camp-wide readiness, safety, quality, and the overall camper experience. You'll build trusted relationships with campers, families, volunteers, and healthcare partners while helping ensure every camp experience is both safe and unforgettable.

You are comfortable in your stretch zone, whether improvising to hang feeding tubing from a bunk bed at 3 a.m. or tackling a complex organizational challenge. You balance advocacy for clinical priorities with shared ownership of camp-wide goals and are excited to dream big, solve problems, and grow the reach and impact of Flying Horse Farms.

As the Nursing Director, you will:
  • Lead year-round nursing and clinical operations.
  • Oversee the Well Nest medical facility and clinical readiness.
  • Supervise the Nursing Coordinator, seasonal nursing staff, and volunteer nurses.
  • Recruit, train, and support seasonal and volunteer medical teams.
  • Partner closely with the Medical Director and Camp Operations Team.
  • Build trusted relationships with campers, families, volunteers, and healthcare partners.
  • Help ensure every camp session is safe, prepared, and unforgettable for the children we serve.
Flying Horse Farms is part of the Serious Fun Children's Network founded by Paul Newman and provides free camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families. Every member of the team plays a role in helping campers experience the fun, independence, and confidence that camp can provide.

Flying Horse Farms provides magical camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families. Join a team that is passionate about creating life-changing experiences and helping campers discover fun, independence, confidence, and connection. Apply online at or email !

Employer is EOE/M/F/D/V. No third‑party candidates please.
