Travel RN - Psychiatric

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a night shift assignment requiring psychiatric experience and an OH or compact RN license.

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• AEGIS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Psychiatric nursing experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Epic experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Experience with medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications preferred
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, and suicidal behavior preferred
• Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and behavior management techniques
• Experience with seclusion protocols and physical hold protocols
• Experience with emergent chemical restraints and managing assaultive behavior preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references)

• Behavioral Health unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient, locked behavioral health unit
• Care for patients across a range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions including geriatric, medical/psych, and substance use populations
• Complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees eligible for assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
