Great Southern Animal Hospital in Columbus, OH is looking for a passionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our caring team! Responsibilities:- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and procedures
- Restrain and handle animals safely and compassionately during treatments
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure they are clean, stocked, and sanitized between appointments
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Collect and process lab samples including blood draws, urinalysis, and fecal tests
- Communicate with pet owners regarding care instructions, appointments, and follow-ups
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories in practice management software
- Provide compassionate care and monitoring for hospitalized and boarding animals
- Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Strong communication skills and a client-friendly, professional demeanor
- Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology, medications, and clinical procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- Compassionate, team-oriented attitude with a genuine love for animals
- High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary assistant certification a plus
