Overview
The Chandler Laboratory is seeking a Research Associate to investigate the molecular mechanisms of alternative splicing in cancer, focusing on the p53 tumor suppressor pathway and cell signaling growth pathways. The successful candidate will contribute to research exploring the links between DNA damage, RNA processing, and tumorigenesis, using a combination of cell culture, in vitro splicing assays, and genetically engineered mouse models.
The Research Associate will participate in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory.
- Investigate the regulation of alternative splicing in response to genotoxic stress, hypoxia and other tumor stressors.
- Characterize models of splicing regulation and their implications for post-transcriptional regulation.
- Develop and test therapeutic tools to modulate splicing in cancer-related genes.
- Utilize novel delivery systems for RNA therapeutics in vivo.
- Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff.
- Oversee and coordinate maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; assist in developing and implementing research methodologies; analyze data; prepare research papers and manuscripts; assist in writing proposals for funding.
Minimum
Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
