ResponsibilitiesConducts experiments in a research vineyard and laboratory; performs experimental procedures and records and consolidates data; executes planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques; collects cane, and plant tissues for lab analyses; performs post-harvest chemical analyses of berries; performs routine experimental procedures including freezing tests of grape varieties; prepares research log sheets and maintains records in research vineyard, greenhouse, and laboratory;
enters, consolidates, and tabulates research data for analysis; performs library research on specified topics; analyzes data by conducting statistics and summarize for publication; writes research reports and manuscripts for publication; assists with proposal writing and submission; instructs assistants and students in field and laboratory procedures and techniques.
- High School diploma or GED. 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Knowledge of experimental design to conduct field crop research; experience in computer literacy encompassing Windows operating system and its environment; valid driver's license.
- Bachelor’s degree horticulture or plant/biological science, viticulture, horticulture, or related degree and/or training and experience; familiarity with grapevine biology and physiology and plant stress; familiarity with fruit chemistry and lab analysis; familiarity with statistical analysis.
