Research Senior Technician

Position SummaryThe Research Senior Technician will work on a project focused on understanding colloidal phosphorus cycling and bioavailability in the western Lake Erie watershed. Duties include conducting field sampling, running colloidal P binding & release experiments, running colloidal equilibrium phosphorus experiments (cECP), and processing dissolved, colloid, sediment, and plant samples for phosphorus, nitrogen, carbon, chlorophyll‑a and other constituents. The Research Senior Technician will also be responsible for running dissolved samples on an ICP‑OES and analyzing the data.
Assists in the design of laboratory and field experiments, and surveys, including instream sampling and cEPC and P binding and release experiments. Oversees and trains undergraduate and graduate students who work on various aspects of this project or allied projects. Supports allied projects by conducting lab analyses when available. Curates and analyzes data and helps prepare reports and scientific manuscripts.

Required QualificationsTwo years of experience in the collection and analysis of dissolved and particulate samples for phosphorus. Knowledge of ecology, freshwater science, or biogeochemistry.
