Research Technician - Comprehensive Cancer Center

Responsibilities

• Perform flow cytometry to sort patient samples and serve as the point of contact for flow cytometry studies in the Bloomfield Center.
• Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques including PCR reactions, DNA and RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, Northern and Western blot assays, sample processing, and library preparation.
• Assist with general lab maintenance and troubleshooting of new procedures as well as picking up patient samples from the tissue bank, tissue archives, or patient rooms.
• Assist with handling of lab animals and routine procedures on lab animals such as weight monitoring and administration of medication.
• Record research results, summarize data for publications and grant proposals, and prepare research progress reports.
• Maintain accurate records and demonstrate good communication skills.
• Attend lab meetings and conduct literature reviews on requested topics.
