First Shift

Assist and provide support of research studies as directed in the laboratory of Dr. James Blachly; conduct planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques; prepare solutions and live culture media for scientific experiments; perform a variety of assays and experimental tests; collect, sort and process tissue and blood samples; record and consolidate research data; perform routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs;

assist with preparation of data and materials for inclusion in research reports, publications and grant applications written by principal investigator; research current scientific literature on specified topics; assist with instructing research aides, undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment; calibrate various laboratory equipment and operate microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; assist with ordering, stocking and maintenance of research supplies.

• High school diploma / GED required.
• Must be enrolled in a degree granting program at Ohio State University.
