Job Summary
Biomedical Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) at Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, OH. This full‑time internship is 100% onsite. The Final date to receive applications is December
10, 2025. The internship focuses on developing and applying non‑animal in vitro models for therapeutics assessment, providing hands‑on experience in advanced cell culture techniques, assay development, and data analysis within a collaborative environment.
- Assist in the development and optimization of 3D in vitro models for efficacy testing.
- Perform cell culture, including maintenance of primary cells and cell lines.
- Conduct biochemical and molecular assays (e.g., cytotoxicity, viability, gene expression).
- Analyze and interpret experimental data; prepare summaries and presentations.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and adhere to safety and quality standards.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
- Must have completed at least two years of college coursework by the start of the internship.
- Basic knowledge of cell biology and laboratory techniques.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be a US person according to US export laws.
- Familiarity with cell culture and sterile technique.
- Experience with 3D cell culture, organ‑on‑chip, or other advanced in‑vitro systems.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Graph Pad Prism, R).
- Experience with fluorescent staining and microscopy.
