Overview
The Ohio State University, College of Engineering, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering seeks a Senior level Researcher (Researcher
3) to lead multiscale modeling and machine learning research. The role involves coordinating, reviewing, or influencing work of others within the Department.
- Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, or equivalent;
PhD preferred. - 3 years of relevant research experience.
- Demonstrated experience in multiscale modeling and/or process modeling and control.
- Strong background in machine learning and data‑driven modeling for engineering systems.
- Experience with scientific programming (Python, MATLAB) and numerical methods.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 3+ years of experience with hybrid modeling (physics‑informed ML, surrogate modeling, digital twins).
- Familiarity with process control, optimization, and uncertainty quantification.
- Experience integrating simulation (CFD, DFT, kMC) with machine learning models.
- Background in energy systems, advanced manufacturing, or materials processing.
- Experience with AI frameworks (PyTorch, Tensor Flow).
- Prior involvement in proposal writing or funded research projects.
- Experience mentoring students or junior researchers.
Lead independent research on multiscale and hybrid modeling, develop and validate models, conduct data analysis, prepare research results for publication, and oversee junior researchers. Collaborate with the PI on grant proposals and project reports. Perform other duties as assigned.
