Postdoctoral Researcher – Beirowski Laboratory – Ohio State University

We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in the Beirowski laboratory at The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center, Department of Neurology & Neuroscience Research Institute. The lab focuses on axon-glia interactions and glial metabolism’s role in axon integrity and myelination. Current projects include in vivo and in vitro mechanistic studies of metabolic perturbations in oligodendrocytes and research on metabolic adaptations in Schwann cells/oligodendrocytes supporting injured axon survival.

• Plan, design, and execute experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab.
• Collect and analyze data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and institutions.
• Identify and select problems to be studied; develop and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols.
• Attend research seminars and contribute to manuscript preparation and technical writing.
• Participate in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• PhD in biomedical or biological sciences.
• Less than three years of prior post‑doctoral experience.
• Demonstrated outstanding performance in previous studies with authorship of publications.
• Strong language, communication, and writing skills.
• Successful completion of a background check; candidate may be required to complete a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
