Research Senior Technician
Research Technician 3 to assist and support scientific investigation to study HIV vaccine development and viral-associated comorbidities as directed in the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of flow cytometry and immune phenotyping, computational analysis, epigenetic profiling and chromatin assays, molecular biology, and cell culture research techniques and procedures; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples;
tests and evaluates current procedures; performs routine procedures on lab animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts;
conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biological sciences.
Required Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Experience in a biological/health research capacity is required. Experience with low cytometry and immune phenotyping, computational analysis, epigenetic profiling and chromatin assays, molecular biology, and cell culture research techniques and procedures desired.
Experience with animal handling and husbandry desired.
