• Assist and support scientific investigation as directed in the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute
• Independently conduct assigned experiments
• Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, Northern and Western analysis
• Sort and process tissue and blood samples; test and evaluate current procedures
• Perform routine procedures on lab animals
• Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results; evaluate validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
• Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepare research progress reports
• Assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conduct library research on requested topics through current literature
• Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities; assist in training junior research staff, undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
• Set up and operate laboratory equipment; monitor research supply, including specimens and inventory, and initiate procurement requests as needed

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
• Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.
