The laboratory of Siddharth Rajan in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University is seeking a Research Technician to support ongoing research in wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research activities, assist with laboratory operations, support experimental studies, and help advance projects in semiconductor materials and devices.
The target hiring range for this job profile is $19.28 - $25.19/hr the actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
Additional Information:40% Performs on-wafer DC, pulsed I-V, and RF (S-parameter) characterization of ultra-wide bandgap (UWBG) transistors including AlGaN-channel HEMTs and Ga₂O₃ MOSFETs using probe stations, parameter analyzers, and vector network analyzers; extracts figures of merit including threshold voltage, on-resistance, breakdown voltage, transconductance; supports Hall effect and van der Pauw measurements for carrier density and mobility characterization of epitaxial layers; prepares and documents calibration procedures, measurement protocols, and data records to maintain experimental reproducibility.
35% Develops and validates physics-based and compact device models for UWBG transistors using TCAD simulation tools (e.g., Silvaco ATLAS, Synopsys Sentaurus) and circuit-level modeling environments (e.g., VerilogA/SPICE); extracts model parameters from experimental I-V and C-V data; assists in the analysis of polarization-induced charge, gate dielectric behavior, and trap effects; prepares simulation outputs including I-V curves, electric field distributions, and band diagrams for comparison with experimental results and for use in group publications and presentations.
25% Prepares clear and accurate technical reports documenting experimental and simulation results; contributes to the drafting and revision of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals (e.g., IEEE Electron Device Letters, Applied Physics Letters) and conference proceedings (e.g., IEEE DRC, IEDM, CS MANTECH); maintains organized records of data, processing logs, and measurement
