Post Doctoral Scholar
Postdoctoral Research Associate to pursue specialized research training and gain research experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Auditory Evoked Potential (AEP) Laboratory within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University. Conducts research investigating neural encoding and processing of electrical stimulation at both the peripheral and central levels of the auditory system in adult and pediatric participants, including cochlear implant (CI) users, and the interaction between auditory perception and cognitive function under the guidance of Dr.
Shuman He and collaborators. Experimental approaches used in this research include electrophysiological recordings of neural responses, objective assessments of brain activation, imaging analyses, computational modeling, psychophysical procedures, and speech assessments. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will assist with software development, data collection, data analysis, and the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications. With additional experience, the Postdoctoral Research Associate may also contribute to the design and implementation of follow-up studies.
Minimum Education & Experience Required
To be considered for this Postdoctoral Scholar position, candidates must possess a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, computer science, psychology, hearing science, or a related field. Applicants must demonstrate strong research skills, proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Experience in cochlear implantation, auditory electrophysiology, computational programming, and computational modeling is preferred. Successful candidates will have a proven ability to collaborate effectively within diverse research teams and work with diverse participant populations.
Candidates should demonstrate strong scientific motivation, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to developing an independent research career. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment physical examination, including a drug screening.
