Job DescriptionResearcher who participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating the innate immune system to enhance cancer immunotherapy targeting pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and leukemia in the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology with researchers in the PIIO Center for Innate Immunity and Inflammation (CIII). Responsibilities include developing and implementing goals and objectives of studies;
designing and executing complex laboratory experiments; performing advanced molecular and cellular techniques including primary cell culture, western blotting, quantitative real‑time PCR; maintaining animal colonies and assisting in in vivo experiments for cancer models; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting research data; assisting with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; testing experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and making recommendations for utilization;
establishing controls, criteria, and research standards; performing critical analysis of literature; assisting in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and international conferences and workshops; writing project reports, articles, and other documents; assisting principal investigator in preparing proposals to obtain new or renewal extramural funding; coordinating laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff;
overseeing and coordinating periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; and performing additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in pathology, molecular medicine, biological sciences or related field, PhD preferred or equivalent experience required; 5 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience required with Master's Degree.
- Knowledge and expertise in Immunotherapy required.
- Experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity preferred.
- Extensive experience planning and developing projects preferred.
