Post Doctoral Scholar- Microbial Infection and Immunity

Job Description

• Pursue research studying mechanisms controlling plasma membrane repair and cell death pathways during infection and inflammation under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Department of Microbial Infection & Immunity.
• Design, conduct, and evaluate research experiments.
• Plan and execute advanced techniques in cellular biology, molecular biology, quantitative fluorescence microscopy, live‑cell imaging, and flow cytometry.
• Develop, adopt, and implement new laboratory methods.
• Analyze and interpret data, write research papers for publication.
• Perform scientific literature searches.
• Present research findings at local, national, or international scientific meetings.
• Apply for postdoctoral fellowships.
• Assist the PI with writing and submitting grant proposals to obtain extramural funding.
• Participate in journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and department seminars and activities.
• Assist with training of other lab members.

• MD, PhD, or MD/PhD.

• Ability to interact in a highly multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience with cellular biology, molecular biology, quantitative fluorescence microscopy, live‑cell imaging, and flow cytometry.
• Experience with animal handling and husbandry.
• Successful completion of a background check required.
• Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre‑employment physical, including a drug screen.
