Job Overview
Researcher who participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational biological/health science laboratory investigating the innate immune system to enhance cancer immunotherapy targeting pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and leukemia within the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology.
Responsibilities- Plan, design, execute, and manage research projects in a basic science laboratory.
- Develop and implement goals and objectives of studies.
- Design and execute complex laboratory experiments.
- Perform advanced molecular and cellular techniques, including primary cell culture, western blotting, and quantitative real‑time PCR.
- Maintain animal colonies and assist with in‑vivo experiments for cancer models.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret research data.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new or revised research methodologies and techniques.
- Test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods, and recommend improvements.
- Assist in establishing controls, criteria, and research standards.
- Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to the research.
- Assist in preparing research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and international conferences.
- Assist principal investigator in preparing proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding.
- Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory staff.
- Oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in pathology, molecular medicine, biological sciences or related field;
PhD preferred or equivalent experience. - 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's Degree.
- Knowledge and expertise in immunotherapy.
- Experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity preferred.
- Extensive experience planning and developing projects preferred.
