This researcher will investigate the pathogenic mechanisms of a group of vector-borne obligatory intracellular bacteria that cause emerging zoonoses. The candidates will utilize in vitro and in vivo experimental models (e.g. ticks and mice) to study novel Type IV secretion effectors and other bacterial factors in human and tick cells, and will be tasked to identify and characterize functions of bacterial proteins and host cell molecules and signaling pathways.
Responsibilities- Collect, analyze, and interpret research data.
- Assist in the preparation of research papers for publication and presentation at national and international conferences.
- Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research projects.
- Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.
