Post Doctoral Scholar
The Department of Food Science and Technology seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to conduct research examining the effects of dietary components on cardiac structure and function under conditions associated with cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment. The Post Doctoral Scholar will apply scientific principles and advanced research methods to support the design, implementation, analysis, and evaluation of research studies.
Working under the direction of Principal Investigator Dr. Martha Belury, the scholar will contribute to multidisciplinary research focused on understanding the role of nutrition in cardiovascular health during cancer treatment.
Responsibilities (100% Research)
- Design and conduct laboratory, clinical, and/or translational research studies related to dietary components and cardiac health.
- Collect, manage, and analyze research data using appropriate statistical and scientific methods.
- Evaluate research outcomes and interpret findings.
- Assist with the development and implementation of research protocols and study procedures.
- Prepare scientific reports, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations for publication and dissemination of research findings.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and research partners to support ongoing research activities.
- Maintain accurate research records and ensure compliance with university, sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to grant-related activities and research planning as appropriate.
This role will run for only a 2-month period.
Additional Information:Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Food Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting independent scientific research.
- Experience with data collection, statistical analysis, and scientific writing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Research experience in nutrition, cardiovascular health, cancer-related research, or a closely related field.
- Experience preparing manuscripts, presentations, and grant-related materials.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
