Clinical Research Assistant – Medical Oncology

Scope / Summary

Functions as a Clinical and Translational Research Assistant providing support to the Immune Monitoring Discovery Platform (IMDP) in the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) and to our clinical trial partners. Identifies appropriate patients from clinical schedules, discusses research studies with patients, obtains consent, supports participant recruitment, coordinates and tracks collection of patient research samples (blood, urine, tissue biopsies), assists in collection of research data, performs data collection with electronic medical record chart review, assists with collection, entering and maintaining clinical research data into study database (CLIMBS, REDCAP), coordinates and tracks study communication with participants, performs data entry and prepares study reports, oversees and maintains accurate records of research activities, maintains Institutional Review Board approvals and regulatory documentation, provides support in planning and implementing programmatic activities, serves as a liaison with research team and other departments, works closely with and supports trainees/students, data analyst, biostatistician, clinic staff, and principal investigator in their research efforts, attends research team meetings, assists with analysis of research results, participates in planning, designing, and execution of translational research studies, conducts critical analysis of research literature, develops plans and resource tools to meet requirements of new protocols, summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts, assists principal investigator with the preparation and submission of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts, co-authors manuscripts.

Additional duties may include processing/storage of patient research samples and learning basic biostatistical analyses for clinical and translational research projects.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualified Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, medical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required; 2‑4 years of relevant experience preferred.
