Pharmacy | Office of the Dean We are seeking a highly motivated Researcher to support an NIH-funded project focused on understanding the mechanisms and clinical implications of the
** cefazolin inoculum effect (CzIE) in
* Staphylococcus aureus***. The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory studies investigating bacterial resistance mechanisms, antimicrobial susceptibility, gene expression, and host-pathogen interactions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, microbiology, and translational research.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Perform microbiological experiments including bacterial culture, isolation, and characterization of clinical
* Staphylococcus aureus
* isolates.
* Conduct antimicrobial susceptibility testing, including broth microdilution and inoculum effect assays.
* Assist with molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
* Support studies evaluating β-lactamase activity and expression.
* Maintain accurate laboratory records and experimental databases.
* Participate in data analysis, figure preparation, and presentation of research findings.
* Assist with preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and grant-related reports.
* Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures.
* Collaborate effectively with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and the primary investigator.
** Qualifications
* ** Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
* 3 years of prior laboratory experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or infectious diseases research.
* Familiarity with aseptic techniques and bacterial culture methods.
* Experience with qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and basic bioinformatics is desirable but not required.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.## Additional Information:
The pay range for this job profile is $58,700 - $77,200. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
