Research Faculty - Surgery Colon and Rectal (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Position Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Academic rank and track will be commensurate with the candidate’s academic record and experience. The successful candidate will develop an open‑rank faculty research program focused on colorectal cancer with expertise in oncogene sis, treatment resistance, microbial interactions, bioinformatics, drug discovery, or immunotherapy considered an asset.

The role offers access to extensive internal collaborative networks, clinical collaborations, and human specimens within OSUWMC and the James Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to secure extramural funding, including maintaining NIH R01 or equivalent support.
  • Publish research findings in high‑quality, peer‑reviewed scientific journals and present at national and international conferences to build a scholarly reputation.
  • Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellows; participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
Requirements
  • PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant field.
  • Postdoctoral research experience in basic science.
  • Demonstrated ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Current, active extramural grant funding comparable to NIH R01.
  • Academic experience is a plus.
  • Qualify for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level; rank and salary will reflect prior training and experience.
