Research Senior Technician
- Neuroscience

Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study spinal cord injury as directed in the Department of Neuroscience; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; tests and evaluates current procedures;

performs routine procedures on lab animals; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature;

oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

Minimum

Education Required:

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.

A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
