Are you looking for a meaningful role where you can use your food service skills to give back to the community? The YMCA of Central Ohio is hiring a Food Service Specialist to support daily meal service at the Van Buren Center. In this role, you’ll prepare and serve meals, ensure the highest standards of safety and quality, and provide exceptional service to participants, staff, volunteers, and partners.
Weekend availability is required, making this a great opportunity for someone who is reliable, collaborative, and passionate about creating a positive impact through healthy, nutritious meals.
Think, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions. Prepares, cooks, and serves food for daily meal service and special events according to established menu; cleans kitchen and dining hall after meals. Implements quality control program that provides all groups with the highest quality of meal service, within established guidelines.
Under the direction of the Catering/Production Manager and/or the Dining Services Manager maintains the health and safety of the food service operation including, but not limited to: compliance with all Health Department requirements; daily cleanliness of kitchen and dining rooms, including storage areas and refrigeration units. Provides exemplary service to all participants at the Van Buren Center and responds to their needs in a timely and polite manner, including volunteers and partners.
Works with individual participants in accommodating special dietary needs. Works cooperatively with all program staff, directors and vendors to best meet the needs of all staff and participants. Operates Groen cook/chill system with optimal efficiency and safety, for daily meal preparation and catering. Participates in the implementation of a workforce development program with guests of the center as participants.
