Shift leader, Retail

Position Overview

The Shift Leader is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the store in partnership with the General Manager or the Assistant General Manager. The Shift Leader ensures the team has a clear understanding of goals, expectations, products, cleanliness, new directives, and guest connections during the shift.

• Demonstrates mastery of the DOING of Team Member with ease, enthusiasm, and excellence.
• Leads shifts focused on team engagement and guest satisfaction while upholding the mantra "Make Fun Happen".
• Strategically maximizes product sales and waste management.
• Exhibits a "total store vision" by owning the look and feel of the store.
• Is knowledgeable about daily deployment and roles and responsibilities.
• Consistently uses effective communication on the floor.
• Identifies and addresses team and guest needs before problems arise.
• Manages multiple priorities and delegates tasks efficiently.
• Takes ownership of the current shift and anticipates the next shift’s needs.
• Ensures the team follows SOP and quality standards accurately.
• Coaches and provides real‑time feedback to Team Members to promote their best DOING and BEING.
• Trains the team on role responsibilities, product knowledge, and promotional items.
• Completes administrative tasks with integrity, including bank deposits, inventory and product orders.
• Develops Team Members through career conversations and professional growth discussions.
• Brings the Core Values—Support One Another, Make Fun Happen, Be Yourself, Take Ownership, Serve With Love—to all actions.
• Demonstrates confidence, calmness, and resilience under pressure while leading as Manager on Duty.
• Creates an inclusive, inspiring culture and seeks feedback for continual improvement.

• At least 1 year of leadership, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience, or approval as a Shift Leader by Caribou Coffee.
• Availability for early mornings, evenings, some holidays, and/or weekends.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Preferred:
  High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

The position requires hearing, speaking, seeing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds, and being able to stand for 4 to 8 hours, or the ability to accomplish these requirements with reasonable accommodations.
