The Olen Corporation is a leading producer of construction aggregates in the Midwest, serving Central, Northeast, and Northwest Ohio.

Job Description

Responsible for sales and marketing of construction aggregates in the designated market area.

Position Summary

Work with VP Sales & Marketing, Customer Service and the Admin team to ensure maximum market coverage and growth. Maintain positive relationships with all customers and assist them in choosing the best materials for each situation. Coordinate with operations regarding material availability and special product needs. This role is not eligible for commission.

Responsibilities
  • Call on and develop relationships with construction aggregates buyers in the market area to meet their aggregate needs while achieving annual sales goals regarding sales volume, price, and revenue.
  • Effectively administer and communicate quotations, sales reports, expense accounts, and other sales data necessary to meet expectations.
  • Prospect and develop new customers, increasing the company’s market share.
  • Assist sales team in developing annual sales plan.
  • Provide frequent personal contact with key customers to maintain maximum market coverage, growth, and profitability while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with operations team members to ensure plants are meeting customer needs and that inventory levels, particularly key products, are maintained.
  • Work closely with the admin team regarding new accounts and accounts receivable.
Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business/marketing, construction management, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum 1-2 years sales experience (aggregates industry or related field preferred but not required) in larger, complex market areas/territories.
  • Ability to travel, primarily day trips with some overnight as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials and how they are used.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
    SharePoint and Viewpoint a plus.
  • Reliability and self‑starter with excellent planning, administration, and time‑management skills; valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required.
  • Maintain contact with operations regarding schedules, inventories, and specialty product needs.
  • Commitment to ethics and integrity; compliance with company’s Ethics policy and Code of Conduct.
  • Financial knowledge regarding pricing strategies, sales forecasting, and ability to achieve objectives and KPIs (e.g., DSO, profit, ASP, volume, customer service, prospecting).
  • Forecasting experience; assists in preparing timely and accurate reports, data and forecasts; works with operations staff regarding inventory and production.
  • Customer service – ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Safety – compliance with the company’s Safe Driver Policy and state, federal, and company safety regulations.
