Our client is a family‑owned commercial tire and lubricant distributor that has kept hardworking Midwest fleets rolling for more than 75 years. They specialize in commercial fleet maintenance, premium tires and retreads, and bulk oil and lubricants. This outside sales role is for truck tires, mechanical services, and value‑added lubricants in the Columbus, Ohio market. You will run your own territory, build relationships, and grow the business.
Responsibilities- Spend about 95 percent of your time in your sales territory, building relationships and selling tires, lubricants, and related products and services.
- Develop accounts, prospect, and make sales calls in the commercial, fleet, and industrial sectors (about 15 to 20 calls per day).
- Follow a sales route with a two‑week rotation across your accounts.
- Work closely with Inside Sales and Customer Service to keep the sales process accurate.
- Grow your territory profitably and hit your targets.
- Generate leads, set appointments, and do what it takes to grow sales.
- Track your sales pipeline in the CRM.
- Help set credit terms and work through collection issues when they come up.
- Keep accurate customer files on all accounts.
- Keep learning through product training and manufacturer classes.
- Grow each key account relationship from order‑taker to trusted business partner.
- At least 3 years of tire sales experience. Commercial truck tire (B2B) experience is required.
- You must be based in the Columbus, Ohio metro area.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- You must have your own vehicle. The company provides a monthly travel allowance.
- Comfortable with outside, territory‑based selling and a high daily call volume.
- Must be able to start with no non‑compete agreement that would block you from selling commercial tires in the Columbus market. Any existing agreement must be disclosed up front.
- Some college.
- Commercial truck tire (B2B) experience specifically.
- Existing relationships with fleets or commercial accounts in Central Ohio.
- Familiarity with CRM tools.
- Generous base pay with commission (OTE: $90,000 to $110,000+).
- Field‑based in the Columbus, Ohio metro area.
- About 95 % of your time spent in your territory.
