Position Summary

The Sales Representative is a professional position which is responsible for generating new business by identifying, prospecting, and securing clients who have experienced large property loss (residential or commercial) and require representation in the insurance claims process. This role combines consultative sales skills with a working knowledge of property insurance claims to build trust with policyholders, explain the value of public adjusting services, and convert leads into signed representation agreements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to inbound leads and claim referrals to assess client needs and present the company's services.
  • Prospect and generate new client leads through cold calling, networking, referral partnerships (contractors, attorneys, real estate professionals), community outreach, and self-generated marketing efforts.
  • Travel to residential and commercial loss sites to assess the severity and context of the property loss and discern the appropriateness for our representation.
  • Confirm that the potential client has property insurance at an acceptable coverage level; if appropriate explain claims process and the steps necessary to maximize recovery.
  • Educate property owners on the public adjusting process, scope of representation, and fee structure in order to secure signed contracts.
  • Accurately document all client interactions, lead sources, and sales activity in required systems, and coordinate with the CPA office to ensure complete transfer of information from sales to claims.
  • Collaborate internally with other CPA team members to ensure a smooth handoff of signed clients into the claims handling process.
  • Build and maintain relationships with service providers and others who may assist in making introductions to property owners who could benefit from CPA’s services.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and community functions to promote brand awareness and generate business, as assigned.
  • Maintain working knowledge of insurance adjusting, property damage recovery, industry norms, ethics, and practices.
  • Meet or exceed established sales and production goals while collaborating with the CPA team to achieve shared business goals.
  • Comply with all applicable state insurance department regulations regarding public adjuster conduct and solicitation.
  • Assist in obtaining reviews and testimonials from clients.
  • Contribute to the improvement of workflows, communication templates, training materials, and operational processes related to sales and client service.
Basic

Minimum Qualifications

The following are the basic minimum qualifications an applicant must possess to be considered for this position.

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, business development, insurance claims, construction, restoration, or a related client-facing field.
  • Must have experience and a comfort with cold calling. Needs to also be comfortable overcoming objections and handling rejection.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen, in addition to state insurance department licensing background requirements, where applicable.
  • Comfortable visiting loss sites affected by fire, water, or catastrophic damage.
  • Must have reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time within Ohio and states where CPA is licensed.
  • Present a professional appearance when representing the Company.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four-year college degree.
  • Five years or more experience in sales, business development, insurance, construction, restoration, or a related client-facing field
  • Large loss experience.
  • Prior experience in property insurance claims, restoration sales, or public adjusting.
  • Established referral network within the local property/restoration/legal/insurance community.
  • Working knowledge of residential and commercial property insurance claims process.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative sales skills; ability to build rapport and trust quickly with clients who may be anxious or stressed after experiencing property loss.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to track leads, follow-ups, and document accurately and consistently.
  • Self-motivated with strong prospecting, follow-up, and closing skills.
  • Experience with cold calling and outbound prospecting; skilled at engaging initially reluctant prospects, handling objections, and converting prospects into qualified leads.
  • Able to work independently and manage a flexible, field-based schedule, including evenings and weekends, as business dictates.
  • Proficient with CRM software, email, and mobile technology. Fluent in the digital world of technology.
  • High level of integrity and adherence to ethical sales and solicitation practices as governed by state insurance regulations.
