We are hiring for a Scientist I in the Gene Therapy field here in the Columbus, Ohio area! This is a long-term career opportunity and we are looking for somebody with experience in a GMP or GLP regulated setting. This role will primarily be performing cell based lab work.
Shift: 1st shift, will work 4 day, 10 hour shifts with some overtime as needed. Main working days will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
Job DescriptionThe Scientist I will assist in the GMP manufacturing of cell and gene therapy products. This role in particular will primarily handle a lot of cell culture duties working in a cleanroom to help manufacture the product.
The Scientist I (Suspension) plays a key role in GMP manufacturing of biological products, with a focus on suspension and large‑scale mammalian cell culture in a highly collaborative, fast‑growing cell and gene therapy environment. This role leads and executes daily production processes, ensures compliance with GMP and applicable regulatory requirements, maintains rigorous documentation standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The Scientist I provides technical and operational leadership to junior staff, works with minimal direct supervision toward measurable objectives, and helps drive the strategic direction of the GMP area while contributing directly to the success of manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities- The vast majority of this job will be performing cell culturing to help manufacture the Gene Therapy products in a cleanroom, laboratory environment.
- Assist in the manufacturing of Gene Therapy products, primarily using suspension and large‑scale mammalian cell culture processes.
- Maintain inventory for the lab.
- Perform documentation per regulations and guidelines.
- Work with the quality team to address any deviations or investigations as needed.
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in a Scientific field.
- Must have experience in a GMP or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong mammalian cell culture experience would be a plus, but not necessarily required depending on other experience.
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
