Position Overview

The Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and Burn Surgery is seeking a highly qualified PhD‑level researcher to join its research team. This role is 100% research and focuses on basic and translational studies in sepsis, inflammation, infection, and immune cell function, leveraging clinical access to patients and biospecimens.

• Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies.
• Develop and write grant proposals to secure extramural funding, such as NIH R01.
• Write and publish research in high‑quality, peer‑reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
• Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives.

• PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
• Postdoctoral research experience in basic science.
• Proven record of writing scientific reports and publishing in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Current, active extramural grant funding at or above NIH R01 level.
• Academic experience is a plus.
• Qualification for academic appointment at assistant, associate, or professor level. Salary and rank will be commensurate with training and experience.
