Safety & Security Officer - Weekends Only!

Part Time | Days | Saturday & Sunday | 10:30am - 7 pm

Pay rate starting at $16/hr, based on experience

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Safety & Security Officer for CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence in Columbus, Ohio. LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence is a sole resource for victims seeking shelter in Franklin County for more than four decades, providing a Temporary Emergency Shelter, 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, DV Counseling, Legal Advocacy, Peer Support Groups and more.

• High School degree, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
• Previous experience in a security role.
• Previous experience working with a diverse population.
• Previous experience in a residential social service setting.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required.

• Verify entrance for at side door, primarily during curfew.
• Perform internal inspections of the CHOICES facility to ensure the security of the building and to check for any security concerns. Communicates any violations via the Unusual Incident Report procedure and informs direct supervisor.
• Perform exterior inspections of the CHOICES facility via cameras to ensure the security of the building and to check for any safety concerns. Communicates any violations via the Unusual Incident Report procedure and informs direct supervisor.
• Accompany Shelter Advocate and Case Management staff to de‑escalate any incidents and/or threats of violence utilizing techniques provided from staff training.
• Respond to security concerns according to CHOICES/Lutheran Social Services policies and procedures.
• Utilize daily log to document incidents, occurrences, and shift activity. Submit to manager and security team prior to end of shift. Proactively communicate any issues or concerns to on‑coming shift Security Officer.
• Accompany staff when directed to conduct searches according to CHOICES policies & procedures, for Reasonable Suspicion.
• Escort staff, volunteers, visitors, and other persons to and from vehicles as requested or necessary.
• Always maintain a professional demeanor with donors, volunteers, and other staff.
• Follow all CHOICES policies and procedures, refer to the LSS handbook.
