Agility Partners is seeking a skilled Firewall Engineer to join the cybersecurity team of one of the largest utility companies in the United States, serving approximately 4 million customers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a company dedicated to delivering safe, reliable energy and driving value for its customers. The primary focus will be on firewall engineering within the cybersecurity team.
Responsibilities:
- Standardize and align firewalls across the enterprise.
- Create firewall rules from scratch.
- Utilize Python to automate rule deployment, auditing, alerts for non-compliance, and reporting.
- Design, configure, and manage F5 Distributed Cloud Web Application Firewall (WAF) for enterprise and customer-facing web applications.
- Administer Palo Alto firewalls, including security policy updates, rulebase audits, and Panorama configurations.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate firewall operations, configuration checks, and reporting.
- Assist in incident response by analyzing WAF and firewall telemetry, implementing containment and prevention controls.

The Ideal CandidateQualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or network security engineering roles.
- Hands‑on experience with F5 WAF, including configuration of WAF policies, bot defense, and API protection.
- Expertise with Palo Alto firewalls, including Panorama management, security policy tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Python scripting, with use cases in firewall automation, log parsing, or REST API integrations.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to write rules from scratch and apply them to multiple firewalls.
