Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO)

Meritus Solutions Group (Meritus) is seeking professional Armed Protective Security Officers (PSOs) to support federal facilities and government operations throughout the Columbus, Ohio area. Officers may work at various federal locations, buildings, and installations while supporting critical infrastructure protection and force protection operations.

Schedules primarily consist of Monday-Friday assignments; however, officers must maintain flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency coverage assignments as operational needs require.

FPS Protective Security Officers (PSOs) are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of designated federal facilities, personnel, visitors, and government property.

Officers perform armed security functions including:

• Access control
• Interior and exterior patrols
• Security monitoring
• Emergency response
• Perimeter inspections
• Incident reporting
• Visitor screening
• Enforcement of federal security regulations and post orders

This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, situational awareness, and the ability to operate within a highly regulated federal security environment.

Applicants must:

• Be a U.S. Citizen
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Possess a valid Social Security card
• Possess a High School Diploma or GED
• Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation
• Have no felony convictions or domestic violence-related offenses
• Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
• Be capable of composing accurate written reports
• Successfully pass:
  • Medical evaluation
  • Drug screening
• Be eligible to obtain and maintain required federal clearances

Company assistance will be provided for federal clearance processing.

Applicants must possess:

• Current Ohio OPOTA Armed Security Certification
• Valid Driver's License

The following certifications/training will be company provided if needed:

• CPR / First Aid / AED

All officers must successfully complete all required federal and company training requirements prior to standing post independently.

Required training includes:

• 1 week classroom instruction
• 1 week weapons/range training
• 2 days x-ray/screening training

All training is paid. Officers receive training pay. All uniforms, equipment, duty gear, weapons, and ammunition are company provided.

Hourly Pay Structure

Employment Phase - Base Hourly Rate

Starting Rate - $31.79/hour

After First 90-Day Probationary Period - $32.54/hour

After Second 90-Day Probationary Period - $33.29/hour

Additional Compensation

• Health & Welfare Benefit: $5.40/hour

All officers assigned to this contract are represented by a union and are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Columbus, Ohio area federal facilities and government installations. This position is fully on-site. Remote work is not available.
