Job Description Summary

Provides security and safety services in all areas of the hospital, hospital properties, and the hospital's off‑campus sites as assigned. Creates and maintains a safe, secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through the use of equipment and techniques that prevent weapons from being brought into Ohio Health facilities. Provides guidance, way‑finding, and other customer service functions as the initial point of contact for care‑site visitors.

Operates and maintains weapons‑scanning equipment. Enforces Ohio Health facility policies regarding parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, tobacco‑free/smoking policy, weapons free and other related rules. Monitors facility activity on closed‑circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations that may require security involvement. Intervenes in patient, visitor, and/or staff confrontations as appropriate. Completes appropriate documentation of incidents. Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, alarm response, evacuation, and internal and external disaster plans.

Works independently to determine the correct response to most situations and initiates actions accordingly.

Performs any function and/or training as assigned by leadership, who reserves the right to adjust assignments, training levels required, or required competency levels on an "as needed" basis. Assigned a home work location but may float to other locations based on team availability and need. Requires a valid state driver’s license and BLS certification. Needs computer skills, knowledge of MSDS and safety, working knowledge of Ohio Revised Code, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be mentally and physically capable of completing training for, participating in, and maintaining certifications as applicable.

• High School or GED (Required)
• BLS – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
• Driver’s License – Department of Motor Vehicles

• BLS Certified. Computer skills, MSDS and safety knowledge. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be mentally and physically capable to successfully complete training for, participate in, and maintain certification to operate weapons‑scanning equipment.
