ARMED SECURITY OFFICER – TRAVELING / ROAMING OFFICER

Monday through Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Full-Time

American Services and Protection (ASAP Security) is seeking a professional, dependable Armed Security Officer to serve as a roaming security officer throughout Central Ohio and, as needed, other locations across the state.

This position is ideal for an experienced armed security professional, current or former commissioned police officer, or retired law enforcement officer who is comfortable working independently, traveling between locations, and representing ASAP Security professionally at a variety of client sites.

Current or former law enforcement officers and experienced armed security officers are strongly encouraged to apply.

American Services and Protection (ASAP Security) is a Columbus, Ohio-based security company with more than 20 years of experience providing professional armed and unarmed security services throughout Ohio. We serve government agencies, businesses, commercial properties, schools, organizations, and other clients with an emphasis on professionalism, reliability, customer service, and responsive security solutions.

The Traveling/Roaming Armed Security Officer will primarily work within Central Ohio but must be willing and able to travel to other Ohio cities when coverage or operational needs arise.

Assignments may vary depending on the client and location. The officer must be flexible, professional, self-directed, and capable of adapting quickly to different sites and security responsibilities.

• Patrol assigned properties and facilities to maintain a safe and secure environment
• Travel between client locations throughout Central Ohio and other Ohio cities as assigned
• Greet employees, clients, visitors, and vendors professionally
• Register and sign in visitors
• Conduct bag and package searches when required
• Monitor security cameras and surveillance equipment
• Answer phones or assist with front-desk/security desk responsibilities when assigned
• Conduct interior and exterior patrols
• Inspect doors, windows, gates, and access points
• Identify and report safety hazards, suspicious activity, or security concerns
• Escort employees or visitors to vehicles when necessary
• Respond appropriately to emergency or high-risk situations
• Complete accurate daily activity and incident reports
• Conduct site checks and unannounced inspections to ensure assigned security officers are complying with post orders, uniform standards, and required duties
• Communicate promptly with ASAP supervisors and management regarding site or personnel concerns
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times

• 21 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Current 20-hour OPOTA firearms certificate
• Minimum of 1 year of security experience
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Dependable personal vehicle
• Willing and able to travel throughout Central Ohio and to other Ohio cities as needed
• Smartphone with reliable service
• Ability to pass BCI/FBI and other required background checks
• No felony convictions

Travel may be required based on client and operational needs.

• Security experience: 1 year minimum
• Current OPOTA 20-Hour Firearms Certificate – REQUIRED
• Applicants who do not currently hold the required OPOTA certification will not be considered for this armed position.

Columbus, Ohio 43231

Applicants must be able to commute to Columbus and travel throughout Central Ohio and other Ohio cities as needed.

Because this is a roaming position, reliable personal transportation is required.
