Job Description
Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area is complying with client and state requirements.
Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. The technician may work independently or in a team environment, both under the supervision of an assigned supervisor. The role requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and tools.

Responsibilities- Accurately locate and verify underground utilities using various methods.
- Work in and walk over all types of terrain in and around construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed.
- Communicate effectively with customers, co‑employees, and third parties to ensure a damage‑free environment.
- Use company technology and tools, including a company vehicle, laptop, smartphone, and personal protective equipment.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
- State‑issued driver’s license.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Experience with vacuum trucks or utility locating preferred.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours per day.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Background check with no violations within the last 5 years.
- DOT drug test required.
- Full‑time position, 10‑hour shift, Monday to Friday, on‑call, weekends as needed.
