Advanced Locating Technician (ALT)
The Advanced Locating and Pipeline Services Technician is responsible for maintaining and protecting their area of coverage while following company policies and safety regulations. This position is a key component to ensure compliance with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting pipeline locations underground and exposed. Understanding and using multiple methods is required. Technicians will be dispatched to audit, locate, verify, and fix problems for utility customers at an advanced level.
Technicians can work independently or in a team environment under an assigned supervisor. Ability to perform this job requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and/or tools.
- In order to obtain employment with Grid Hawk LLC, candidates MUST complete a background check. Company policy requires no violations within the last 3 years.
- Candidates MUST pass a drug test.
- All employees of Grid Hawk LLC are assigned proper technology to perform all work related duties.
- Tools provided:
- Company laptop and smartphone
- Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Locate underground facilities by using multiple methods
- Fix broken tracer wires
- Take pipe soil readings
- Perform corrosion readings
- Tack weld tracer wires onto pipe
- Expose utilities by hand
- Communicate with management team, contractor, and utility customer to ensure damage‑free excavation
- Maintain knowledge of necessary technology and tools
- Collaborate with others in a supervised team environment
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
