Position Description

Immediate hire for a Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support the truck fleet at Ryder in Columbus, Ohio.

  • Hourly pay: $25.00 per hour
  • Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
  • Sign‑on bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday
  • Hours:

    7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gasoline or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years)
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer as applicable
  • Identify root causes of basic failures/conditions and perform required repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned tasks
  • Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation as required
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required, such as Service Island support
