Job Description
Fiber Cable Splicers will be responsible for fusion splicing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic cable (single- and multimode) while meeting safety, quality, and customer standards. This role involves OTDR and power meter testing, basic troubleshooting, reading plans and maps, maintaining splicing equipment, and working in buried, aerial, underground, and building environments.

Team Fishel operates at a federal level and will be screened again before being converted to full time as well.

Structure of crews: 2-man crew—1 elite splicer and 1 apprentice in training/entry-level splicer starting out.
Day to Day- Meet at the office, get into company vehicle, and drive to job sites.
- Splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single mode, multimode, loose tube and ribbon.
- Work on data centers, telephone poles, etc.
- Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues.
- Review, interpret, and work with various maps, drawings, and blueprints, and testing documents.
- Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
- Perform optical continuity and conformance testing.
- Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.
- On-call schedule for every crew once every 5 weeks.
- Education:
high school diploma or GED. - 2+ years of experience in fusion splicing fiber optic cable, splice audit verifications, and OTDR and power meter testing.
- Knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment, including Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, and Sumitomo.
- Must meet company minimum driving standards, have good driving record, and be able to operate a company vehicle.
- No criminal background, no felonies, valid driver license, bucket truck training, and confined space training.
