Maintenance Painter (Provisional)

Under general supervision, performs fully-skilled maintenance painting for board-owned buildings and related structures. Duties include surface preparation, painting, finishing, and equipment operation as needed.

• Applies paint, primer, varnish, and lacquer by brush, roller, or sprayer; mixes paints and blends colors.
• Paints building exteriors and interiors.
• Repairs, finishes floors, furniture, and school equipment.
• Prepares surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching walls, and masking baseboards and woodwork.
• Maintains brushes, rollers, and related tools.
• Applies wall coverings.
• Drives to and from work sites.
• Works from ladders, scaffolding, and other supportive equipment as required.
• Operates sandblaster, power sander, paint shaker, or related equipment.
• Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

• Completion of 12th grade or GED.
• Two (2) years of painting experience, including surface preparation and painting.
• Valid driver's license.
• Certificate of completion of apprenticeship in painting issued by US Dept. of Labor or Ohio State Apprenticeship Council may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Position filled on a provisional basis. Within two years of hire, the incumbent must pass a required examination to continue employment.
