Plumber- Building Operations & Maintenance

Overview

Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains piping systems and allied equipment within the hospital and off‑site facilities.

• Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems in industrial and commercial buildings.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and building codes to determine optimal plumbing layout.
• Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other issues, and makes necessary repairs or replacements.
• Collaborates with other construction professionals to ensure plumbing systems are installed correctly and on time.
• Provides estimates for plumbing services and orders necessary materials.
• Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials used for billing and future reference.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• State of Ohio Brazing certification
• State of Ohio Backflow Preventor certification
• State of Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operators license
• ASSE 6010 Medical Gas System Installer certification

• Clear communicator, able to work unsupervised, organized, good time management.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal assistance or direct supervision.
• Knowledge of national and local plumbing codes.
• Knowledgeable of fire suppression systems, medical air, medical vacuum, and medical gas piping distribution systems.

Two years of job‑related experience.

• Occasional lifting or carrying of 61–100lbs on own or with assistance.
• Occasional pushing or pulling of 100lbs or greater with assistance; 41–60lbs and 61–100lbs with support.
• Occasional sitting frequently handling blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, and medications; ability to climb stairs/ladder, work in cold temperatures, and work with communicable diseases or pathogens.
• Continuous standing, walking, hearing acuity, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and the use of power tools.
• Ability to drive motor vehicles as required; maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and insurance.
• Occasional exposure to biohazard waste, fumes, gases, vapors, hot temperatures, and other hazardous substances.
