KEP Electric, a subsidiary of IES Residential, is currently seeking experienced Residential Electricians in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas. This may be the opportunity you are looking for.
Position SummaryThis role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential environments—including both new builds and lived‑in homes. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of NEC codes, prioritizes safety, and excels in customer service. As the face of our service division, this technician will represent IES Residential with professionalism and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in residential homes (occupied and unoccupied).
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, GFCIs, switches, and more.
- Conduct home warranty repairs and ensure homeowner satisfaction through quality service and clear communication.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in lived‑in homes.
- Accurately complete service tickets and document repairs performed, parts used, and next steps if required.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of company vehicles, tools, and PPE.
- Communicate effectively with service coordinators, homeowners, and field leadership.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance or customer satisfaction.

Minimum Years of Experience2–4 years
Specific Qualifications- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Residential Service Electrician.
- Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics in residential settings.
- Strong knowledge of NEC codes and compliance requirements.
- Recognized for high‑quality workmanship, professionalism, and safety.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to work independently and travel to various residential job sites.
- Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, or in confined spaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Typical hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends depending on project deadlines.
- Travel to various job sites within a designated region may be required.
