Bermex provides comprehensive meter reading and related services—including leak detection, atmospheric corrosion, line location, software solutions, and meter reading—for utilities across the United States.

About the Role

The Atmospheric Corrosion Survey Technician reports to the Supervisor  role involves inspecting gas meters and associated piping for proper coating and signs of corrosion, documenting findings, and reporting any abnormal operating conditions. The technician must work independently outdoors, walking long distances in various weather conditions, and manage daily routes efficiently.

What You’ll Do
  • Inspect gas meters and associated piping for coatings and corrosion.
  • Follow utility, state, and federal guidelines for inspection, reporting, and safety.
  • Collect data using handheld computers or other collection devices.
  • Complete assigned routes and work orders within scheduled dates.
  • Walk up to 10 miles per day in weather conditions ranging from rain to extreme heat or cold.
  • Lift up to 10 lbs routinely and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Communicate with customers and team members via phone, tablet, or computer.
  • Participate in safety meetings and provide timely reports and documentation to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation

Per diem: $30 per night for overnight stays out of town. Company covers hotel costs.

About You – Must Haves
  • At least 18 years old.
  • No formal education required; however, a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in outdoor conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Will be trained as an Atmospheric Corrosion Survey Technician.
Nice to Haves
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One or more years of experience in meter reading or as an Atmospheric Corrosion Survey Technician.
  • Long-term experience with a single employer.

  • Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling.
  • Strong time‑management skills and efficient route planning.
  • Excellent communication skills—comfortable interacting with management and customers.

  • Capability to walk long distances and prepare for varied weather conditions.
