Job Summary

Under close supervision, this position is responsible for performing basic services on our tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment at a customer site or rail yard using a mobile service truck. The job may require working outdoors in the elements or across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, and overtime; full‑time attendance is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks such as tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on trailer chassis and sub‑frames under guidance.
  • Follow all safety requirements while at a customer site or rail yard.
  • Operate the assigned service truck professionally and according to company requirements; keep the unit clean and well‑stocked.
  • Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
  • Properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs.
  • Use a cutting torch and welding equipment, performing minor repairs on chassis, frames, brackets, etc.
  • Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs, ensuring all holes are sealed and water‑tight.
  • Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections under the supervision of a certified technician as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Eight years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs.
  • Demonstration of required skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experience.
  • Clean motor‑vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines.
  • Ability to supply own basic tools or purchase through the toolbox purchase program.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
  • Capacity to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED with up to 1 year of experience in semi‑tractor or semi‑trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes.
  • Welding certification.
  • Forklift certification and experience.
  • EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license.
  • Effective communication and ability to transmit, receive, and interpret information accurately.
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient computer skills and comfort using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to use time and resources efficiently.
  • Physical capability to lift or move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Appropriate work attire, including protective gear/PPE.

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $28.47 and $42.71.

This position is not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship.

Compensation and Incentives

Starting pay may vary within the specified range based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may be eligible for an annual bonus and incentives in accordance with the company’s bonus and incentive plans, subject to terms in effect.
