The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a skilled Electrician 2 to serve as part of a statewide roving maintenance team supporting Ohio’s Developmental Centers. This role is ideal for an experienced electrician who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working across multiple facilities to ensure safe and reliable electrical systems that support 24/7 residential and clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems & equipment across multiple facilities
- Support critical infrastructure including electrical distribution systems, generators, transfer switches, lighting, and controls
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure system reliability and compliance with safety standards
- Respond to urgent electrical issues and assist in restoring essential services
- Maintain accurate records, diagrams, and maintenance documentation
- Coordinate work with facility maintenance staff and contractors to minimize operational disruptions
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and proper PPE usage
- 4-day work week (4 x 10-hour shifts)
- Schedule may vary based on facility needs
- Flexibility required for travel & operational demands
- Frequent statewide travel to assigned facilities is required
- Exposure to energized electrical equipment
- Indoor & outdoor work environments
- Overtime, call-back, or emergency response may be required
- Physical activity including lifting, climbing, bending, and working in confined or elevated spaces
Minimum 18 months training or verifiable experience in electrical work under supervision of an experienced electrician. Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division & in reading & writing common English vocabulary.
- 6 months experience as Electrician 1, 52281.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
