Plumber
Journeyman plumber who can independently run a job, and an intermediate-level plumber with strong mechanical and commercial plumbing knowledge. You will install and connect a variety of piping systems and fixtures in a commercial new-build environment while working from blueprints and adhering to building codes.
Responsibilities- Install vent, storm, sanitary, gas, and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to those systems.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvents, caulking, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Review blueprints, building codes, and specifications to plan and execute plumbing installations correctly.
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures using measuring instruments such as rules and levels.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, as well as fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand and power tools.
- Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes securely in place.
- Proven experience as a plumber in commercial construction environments.
- Ability to install vent, storm, sanitary, gas, and water piping systems and connect fixtures to those systems.
- Commercial plumbing knowledge, including underground work and rough-ins.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, building codes, and specifications.
- Proficiency using standard plumbing hand tools such as tape measures, pipe wrenches, hammers, and screwdrivers.
- Skill in assembling pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using appropriate tools and methods including soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
- Ability to measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand and power tools or pipe-specific machines.
- Capability to test plumbing systems by filling pipes or fixtures with water or air and using pressure gauges to detect leaks.
- Journeyman card for the journeyman-level position.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Ability to safely use rules, levels, and other measuring instruments to mark pipe installations and fixture locations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on commercial new-build projects, particularly schools or similar facilities.
- Working background in commercial construction, including underground piping and rough-in installations.
- Comfort working with both hand and power tools; all battery-powered or corded tools are provided on site.
- Ability to hang steel supports from ceiling joists and work at heights as required by the project.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting building codes and project specifications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a field construction team.
You will work on a brand-new commercial construction project in New Albany. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, starting between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. and ending between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., offering a consistent daytime shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
