Maintenance Technician – Greater Columbus Convention Center
Legends Global is the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities and is looking to fill an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician at the Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC). The technician will perform routine and extensive preventive maintenance and repair procedures on GCCC‑managed buildings, mechanical equipment, and utility systems. The position also assists the Operations Crew with set‑up changes as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform painting, flooring, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glass repair, roofing, and construction tasks as directed.
- Provide ground maintenance: snow removal, landscaping, painting parking areas, and other aesthetic upkeep.
- Install and maintain telephone lines and troubleshoot telephone operating systems.
- Lubricate and clean machinery and mechanical systems, including generators, distribution panels, motors, and building systems up to 480 V.
- Install and maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, and circuit breaker connections.
- General repairs to food & beverage equipment and test electrical systems for continuity.
- Install and remove show sets.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, snow removal equipment, and power tools.
- Handle on‑call status for building emergencies and inclement weather.
- Assist Operations Crew as directed and respond to promoter requests and event requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and non‑hazardous work environment, following lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Read and understand schematic diagrams; maintain written daily activity logs.
- Manage purchase requisitions, compare cost‑effective options, and maintain sub‑contractor and vendor records.
- Monitor and adjust the Building Management System; maintain strong relationships with external contractors and vendors.
- Interact with guests in a friendly, courteous manner, initiating contact within 10 feet.
- Complies with the collective bargaining agreement and joins the union within 30 days.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work under deadlines dictated by event schedules and project timetables.
- Skilled and semi‑skilled maintenance and repair in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical and electrical.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong customer‑service skills: initiating contact, smiling, extending handshakes, courteous and friendly.
