Position Purpose
Responsible for loading, unloading, transporting and positioning materials to and from various sites on the rooftop of residential homes and commercial buildings. Plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery and unloading of building materials at job sites, upholding the company’s standards for outstanding customer service and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Load and unload roofing materials from delivery trucks using manual and mechanical methods, ensuring careful handling to prevent damage.
- Ensure all safety guidelines and procedures are followed, assisting with scaffolding assembly, inspecting equipment, and reporting issues.
- Facilitate safe distribution of materials onto flat and sloped roofs per company safety guidelines, prioritizing worker and property protection.
- Operate conveyor belt systems (when trained and certified) to transport building materials from flatbed trucks to rooftops, maintaining continuous flow to meet project timelines.
- Accurately verify and reconcile material orders, ensuring correct quantities are loaded and documented.
- Provide exceptional service to roofing contractors by attending to their material needs and responding to inquiries.
- Adhere strictly to OSHA safety regulations and company protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work closely with drivers and team members to coordinate efficient loading and unloading processes and support overall branch operations.
- Support safety assessments by inspecting delivery sites for hazards and assisting drivers in safely maneuvering vehicles.
The Rooftop Loader position requires frequent local travel within the designated branch delivery area using company vehicles to customer locations, including residential and commercial sites. Occasional travel (typically less than 10% overnight) may be required to support nearby branches or out‑of‑town storm or emergency relief efforts.
Physical Requirements- Must be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items, operating machinery, and working at heights.
- The role involves standing, walking, bending, climbing, and handling materials up to 100lb regularly.
- Requires working on various roof pitches and heights, necessitating personal protective equipment (PPE) including a harness.
- Standard office‑based computer and communication tasks may apply.
Work is primarily outdoors and on rooftops, exposed to various weather conditions and loud machinery noise. Safety equipment such as hard hats, safety harnesses, and gloves is required. Work hours typically span Monday through Friday, with potential overtime or weekend shifts to accommodate delivery schedules.
Minimum Qualifications- Reliable transportation for commuting.
- Authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to pass criminal, driving background checks and pre‑employment drug test.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift 80–100lb repeatedly.
- Basic math skills for accurate inventory counts.
- Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and proper use of PPE (boots, gloves, harness).
- Ability to read work orders, shipping orders and follow instructions.
- Ability to work on sloped roofs of various pitches and heights.
- Availability Monday through Friday, with potential overtime.
- Reliability, safety, and teamwork oriented.
- Knowledge of construction materials and procedures.
- Proficiency in operating a forklift.
- Previous experience in roof work or rooftop delivery.
- Hands‑on experience operating forklifts, boom/crane trucks or similar equipment.
- Experience with conveyor systems and loading machinery.
- Proficiency in Spanish.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred EducationRelevant vocational training or certification in construction, material handling, or forklift operation.
Certifications- Forklift certification preferred.
- Ability to perform labor‑intensive tasks, including lifting 50–100lb repeatedly.
